APLS | Online learning

Pre-course online learning videos for APLS 3 and 2 day candidates.

APLS pre-course videos

These videos provide you with practical advice and some of the theoretical basis for topics you will explore on the APLS course.

Presented by a range of clinicians from around Australia, these video excerpts from the APLS online learning package will introduce you to key APLS concepts and supplement your pre-course reading of the APLS manual.

First, you can watch a practical demonstration of a scenario performed by a real-life clinical team. Then, in the videos that follow, APLS instructors will break down the skills and conditions seen during the scenario in more detail.

Clinical scenario

Scenario 1a - cardiac arrest - shockable rhythms

In this scenario, an 8-year-old boy with known cardiac disease is attending the hospital for a routine appointment.

He is walking with his mother through the entrance when he has the sudden onset of palpitations and chest pain then collapses. A nurse passing by observes this and takes action.

In this video you will be able to see the techniques and concepts from the skills videos on Basic Life Support, Cardiac Arrest - Ventricular Fibrillation and Defibrillation applied by a real clinical team.
